Festivities of Saint Cosme and Saint Damian in Baiona

As every year at this time, Baiona dresses up for the festival in honor of Saint Cosme and Saint Damian. As part of this celebration, the Honey and Nuts Fair will also take place, where you can purchase these delicious products at various stalls.

For two days, Plaza de Santa Liberata will transform into a market offering a wide range of countryside products. From honey and nuts to fruits, vegetables, agricultural tools, local sausages, natural cosmetics like soaps, moisturizing creams, oils, as well as ornamental plants, antiques, and crafts, among others. Additionally, the market will extend to Glorieta de Colón, along Marqués de Quintanar Street.

To make your visit even more enjoyable, there will be live entertainment with performances from folklore groups, tambourine players, and parades. Here we present the schedule of events for this celebration:

Note: In 2024, the celebration days were scheduled for Wednesday, September 25, and Thursday, September 26, but due to adverse weather conditions, they have been rescheduled to Thursday, September 26, and Friday, September 27. 

Thursday, September 26 (local holiday)

11:00 - Launch of Palenque fireworks. Following this, a procession in honor of San Cosme and San Damián. Departure from the chapel of Santa Liberata, going through the main streets of the town accompanied by the gaita group "Os Trebellos" from Baiña.

12:00 - Solemn Mass at the parish church.

13:00 - Performance by the gaita group "Os Trebellos" from Baiña in Plaza de Santa Liberata.

18:00 - Street parade by the gaita group "Os Trebellos" from Baiña through the festival grounds.

19:00 - Street parade by the group "Os terribles de donas" through the festival grounds.

Friday, September 27

11:00 - Launch of Palenque fireworks

18:30 - Street parade by the Cultural Association "A Seneira" through the festival grounds.

 

During these festival days, several masses will be held at both the chapel of Santa Liberata and the church of Santa María de Baiona (Former Collegiate Church). Below are the schedules:
