Monument to "Milladoiro". A Tribute to Music in Chandebrito

Milladoiro - Chandebrito_Nigrán

In August 2020, this monument was erected in Chandebrito (Nigrán) in honor of the Galician Folk group "Milladoiro". This group has left an indelible mark on Galician music, fusing for the first time four decades ago instruments such as the bagpipe, flutes, hurdy-gurdy, harp, harpsichord, and ocarina. Their debut album, "A Galicia de Maeloc," released in 1980, became the first Galician album published in France.

On the day of its inauguration, 40 trees were planted at the same site, forming the "Forest of Maeloc". These trees, which include birches, cherry trees, walnut trees, and chestnut trees, each represent one of the 40 years since the release of their first work.

Antón Seoane, one of the founding members of the group and a resident of Nigrán for 20 years, expressed during the inauguration: "To represent the album in a forest is something wonderful because it is full of symbolism and parallels. We created a musical work that valued our folklore and our roots, and now it will be embodied in a forest that grows from scorched land where invasive species used to thrive".

Access to the monument is easy and offers ample parking options.
